A busy couple of weeks!

The past couple of weeks have been filled with a field trip, a class picnic, and a fun-filled day of team building!  We have been very busy!

Our field trip to Ivy Creek Natural Area provided many first hand experiences of the seasonal changes from Summer to Fall.  Students observed leaves changing, trees, plants, animal tracks, and habitats as they hiked on the nature trails.

The beautiful day that we had for the trip made for a terrific picnic and playtime at Pen Park.

Team Building Day provided many opportunities for us to work together and build unity as a class.  We practiced using "CARES." C = Cooperation, A = Assertion, R = Responsibility, E = Empathy, S = Self-Control.  We enjoyed playing games, competing in relays, listening/making music with drums, creating a school wide peace symbol, and having a great time!

We finished our map unit by painting our salt dough maps and creating our own world maps.  We learned a lot about the United States map and the World map in a very short time!

Community Work

We had a great time learning about and building our communities.  Students discussed the similarities and differences between urban, suburban, and rural communities before building and then worked in teams to create representations of each community.
